Introduction
So day 2 of Target scouting for dating. Results were more informative this time around.
One major factor I changed was the timing. Instead of staying between 5pm-5:30pm, I stayed starting at 6:30pm and, from curiosity, ended up staying until 7:30pm.
Data
Ignoring the labels and drawings on the above map, this figure generically shows the layout of the store I’m visiting.
Nothing really happens on the west and northwest side (just like the pacific northwest). Very few people go here, and the ones that do tend to be shy.
The real action happens on the east side, specific hot spots are:
- food and produce
- supplements and pharmacy
- makeup (close to supplements)
All of these three hot spots happen pretty close together on the lower southeast side. However, there’s till plenty of movement all on the east.
I generally found pairs of people–either couples or same-sex (girls) platonic friends shopping together–in fact, I never (yet) saw two guys shopping together.
I was even able to get in the same aisle with a few people, which was nice.
Still no dates.
Future Plans
The data reveals a bimodal distribution in target attendance, with peak attendance happening either at noon (12pm) or evening (6pm). I wonder if the demographics will be different in the afternoon compared to the evening (are there less couples and more singles?)
The exception to this are:
- Fridays: peak attendance in the evening (6pm)
- Weekends: peak attendance between 1pm and 3pm
